DR. KEVIN KHAO CATES
Kevin “Khao” Cates is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and music producer.

successful, be significant!”
With over 30 million combined records sold, Khao has revolutionized the
sound of Hip-Hop music by producing sounds and melodies that cross
various genres of music. He has also positioned himself as a major player
in the music industry, while maintaining full control of his production and

brought the world mega hits such as T.I.’s “Why You Wanna” and R.

Kevin “Khao” Cates
Khao’s accomplishments and endeavors span beyond the music industry. In 2008 Khao took time off
from music to create Bridge DA Gap. Bridge DA Gap is a 501c3 non-profit organization that combines
hip hop music, education and mentoring to reach students and teach life skills applicable in today’s
socially challenged environment. Bridge DA Gap has been implemented in schools across the United
States as well as in the Bahamas.
When approached by educators to use the music-driven concepts of Bridge DA Gap to increase test
scores, Khao developed KOOLRICULUM. KOOLRICULUM is an innovative, technology-driven,
curricular approach that teaches youth in grades K through 12 core academic competencies in English,
Math, Science, and Social Studies. All songs are aligned with the standards. There is also a Pre-K
component.
Khao was honored as an Atlanta Tribune’s Hall of Fame inductee, which recognizes the most
distinguished careers and lifetime achievements of individuals in Georgia. Khao also received the
Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from President Obama for his lifelong commitment to
building a stronger nation through volunteer service.
Khao has also been a pillar in the local economy by providing the community employment opportunities
with his trucking company, Spa, and KMG Studios. Due to the ever growing need of film equipment in the
booming Atlanta film scene, KMG Studios a 30,000 square foot sound stage & equipment rental facility
occupies 40 million dollars worth of movie equipment. KMG Studios also trains and educates aspiring
film professionals to be competent and competitive in their prospective fields.
In 2021 Khao partnered with BBI Development Group and is moving forward with a project that will
advance and further strengthen the City of South Fulton’s growing community and business district. By
transforming more than 66 acres of land, BBI will create the heart of the city’s center, putting the City of
South Fulton on the map with a pioneering mixed- use smart city destination in Georgia.
The “Town Center at Mansa Park” development is the first of its kind and will encompass twenty-story
hotels, 600,000 square feet of Class A office space, luxury residential housing with designated affordable
units, an outdoor amphitheater, a walking trail and green space, parking deck, community park
enhancements, and a luxury retail entertainment campus – while also being fully equipped with green
infrastructure and net zero energy solutions. Five miles from Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson Airport and
minutes to downtown Atlanta, this development is the prime location for the
convergence of Metro Atlanta and surrounding districts.
